The Barnett Wildcat C5, Compound Crossbow
is one of the best selling crossbows of all time.
As we tested and reviewed the Barnett Wildcat C5 crossbow in our search for the best dollar value crossbow, that when set-up properly, anyone would be able to shoot it accurately and un-assisted including individuals right handed, left handed, young, old, physically impaired, it became quite apparent as to why this crossbow is one of the top selling crossbows of all time. Two key points I would like to make here is that if you install the crank assembly in the Barnett Wildcat C5, instructions are a bit vague I feel, the drum assembly that the cocking string winds onto comes apart so it can be installed and this is not illustrated in the instructions, other than that it is a pretty straight forward installation. The second point is this, the crank installs right side and or left side to accomodate either right or left handed shooters. As we tested the Barnett Wildcat C5 we noticed that the accuracy of the crossbow increased after installing the crank to cock system, and I must say that after it was installed the foot stirrup is for the most part just extra weight hanging on the front of the crossbow that is not needed any longer, unless of course you like having a large front bumper on your crossbow. As you can see with the Barnett Wildcat C5 crossbow completely accessorised with premium components, still costs much less than most crossbows in the 300 f.p.s. velocity range. Barnett Wildcat C5 crossbow accuracy tests. - Hand cocking - average 6" group 50 yds.
- Rope cocking - average 4" group 50 yds.
- Crank cocking - average 2" group 50 yds.
Accuracy tests were conducted with random shooters with various skill levels of shooting, this was done for the simple reason we were looking for a crossbow that anyone with any knowledge of shooting would be successful with a crossbow that could be used for hunting or sporting purposes. The results were, to say the least, surprising!
(2010 Update) Further accuracy testing of the Barnett Wildcat C5 Crossbow by myself, revealed this crossbow quite easily grouped arrows into a 2" dot at 50 yards by hand cocking. Rope cocking and crank cocking 1" - 1 1/2" at 50 yards depending on wind direction and speed. (Very Accurate)
